Supreme Court upholds capital allowances for hydroelectric scheme

”The Supreme Court has released its decision on whether SSE was entitled to plant and machinery allowances for the expenditure incurred in constructing a hydroelectric scheme in Glendoe Scotland.

The Court upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal that none of the assets in dispute were “tunnels” or “aqueducts”. The Court decided that the assets listed in the statute were grouped by theme which provided context for their meaning.

Jonathan Peacock KC and Michael Ripley represented SSE.”
